A woman died in a tragic hit-and-run accident along the national highway in Brgy. Bigaa, Legazpi City early yesterday morning.
The victim, identified as Dominga, 40 years old, a resident of the area, was found bleeding and lifeless. His left leg was severed and was already separated from his body when responding police arrived.
Around 12:45 a.m., residents were shocked to see the victim's body lying on the side of the road. They immediately called for help and rushed him to the Legazpi City Hospital, but he was declared dead.
According to Executive Master Sgt. Carlo Paña, the victim was possibly hit by an unidentified vehicle. As a result, his leg was severed and got stuck in the sharp steel fence of the bridge and he was dragged for almost 10 meters, causing his instant death.
