Seiko and Datsun have reunited in a special collaboration to present three limited-edition Prospex Speedtimer watches inspired by the iconic Datsun 240Z. The inspiration for this is the late 1960s when both brands became legendary.
In 1969, Seiko released the Speedtimer, the first automatic chronograph with a vertical clutch and column wheel. At the same time, Datsun introduced the famous 240Z sports car. A strong partnership was forged when a Seiko-branded Datsun 240Z won the East African Safari Rally in 1971, demonstrating the precision timing and high-performance spirit of both brands.
Three models are included in the collection: SPB517, SRQ057, and SSC957. The designs are based on the red-and-black chassis and classic fonts of the Datsun 240Z. The SPB517 has the Caliber 6R55, the SRQ057 uses the Caliber 8R48 mechanical chronograph, and the SSC957 is solar-powered using the V192 movement. All have premium leather straps from Leather Working Group-certified tanneries.
Each model has its own features: countdown timer for SPB517, tachymeter bezel and chronograph function for SRQ057, and 60-minute chronograph with 6-month power reserve for SSC957.
Available SPB517 (2,500 units), SRQ057 (500 units), and SSC957 (4,000 units) starting September 2025 at Seiko boutiques and select retailers.
