Many Filipinos were saddened after McDonald's Philippines announced that it would once again discontinue its popular Twister Fries, which was a limited-time offering.
On Monday, July 28, McDonald's posted a photo of the iconic fries on Facebook with the message: “This is not goodbye. This is ‘til we meet again.” It was captioned: “What ghost are you? I'm the one who didn't try the Twister Fries.” The word “ghost” became popular because of the viral song Cup of Joe, which refers to things that haven't been forgotten yet.
Many netizens reacted, reaching 16,000 reactions, 2,900 shares, and 1,500 comments. Most were sad and requested that Twister Fries be made a permanent menu item. One said: “Why not make it part of the menu forever?” Others were disappointed because they didn't get to taste it before it was sold out.
According to reports, Twister Fries first returned in September 2023, disappeared in 2024, and reappeared on June 30, 2025. According to Oliver Rabatan, Assistant VP for Marketing at McDo, the return of limited-time items like Twister Fries and McSpicy is exciting for customers.
He added that even though McDonald's is known for its World Famous Fries, customers are still looking for a "twist" to their favorites—hence the popularity of Twister Fries, which have a unique shape and a little tang.
