A South Korean man has been accused of shooting and killing his son after he allegedly stopped giving him money from the family business. According to reports, the suspect felt “betrayed”, which is why he committed the crime.
Authorities announced that the incident occurred on July 20, at around 8:31 p.m., at the suspect's home in Incheon during a birthday celebration organized for him by his son. The celebration included his wife, two children, and other relatives.
According to the investigation, the 62-year-old man used to receive ₩3 million (approximately ₱124,000) per month from their skincare business owned by his ex-wife. He said that her salary stopped last year so he used the remaining pension money for expenses. Because of this, he became angry with his son and said that he was a “good person” before.
A police investigation has not yet revealed a motive, but 15 containers of flammable liquid and ignition devices with timers were found in the suspect's home, as if he was planning to start a fire. The family says he also targeted his son-in-law and grandchildren, and denies what it says is a "long-standing feud."
