Over 600 Passengers Stranded Due to Typhoon Crising

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reported that more than 600 people were stranded at several ports in the country due to Typhoon Crising (Tropical Storm Wipha). According to reports from 4 a.m. to 8 a.m. of July 20, about 634 passengers, truck drivers, and cargo helpers were affected at 37 ports.

In addition, there are 227 rolling cargoes, 33 ships, and 4 motorbanca that still cannot leave. Meanwhile, there are 45 ships and 90 motorbanca temporarily hiding or stopping in a safe place.

In Eastern Visayas, the number of stranded people is the highest — 445 people, including 210 rolling cargoes and 3 ships. In Western Visayas, around 125 people are still unable to leave, while in Bicol, 60 people and 15 rolling cargoes are affected.

In Southern Visayas, there are 13 ships and 4 motorbanca stranded, while in Southwestern Mindanao, there are 11 ships and 2 rolling cargoes whose trip was delayed.

In the National Capital Region and Central Luzon, there are 3 ships that are unable to travel and 15 ships and 50 motorbancas are in hiding. In other areas such as Palawan and Southern Tagalog, some ships and motorbancas have also temporarily stopped operations.
