The eight Filipino sailors from the MV Eternity C have safely arrived in Saudi Arabia, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said in a statement on Tuesday. They survived the attack incident by Houthi rebels in the Red Sea.
Upon their arrival in the port city of Jizan, they were immediately taken into the custody of the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah, along with the Migrant Workers’ Office-Jeddah and their shipping agency.
The seafarers will undergo a medical checkup as part of their preparation for returning to the Philippines in the coming days.
The DFA also thanked the government of Saudi Arabia for granting visas to the Filipino crew as humanitarian assistance.
It will be recalled that there were 21 Filipino crew aboard the MV Eternity C when it was attacked by Houthi rebels while in the Red Sea.
