More than P2 million worth of marijuana was seized from a 22-year-old pregnant woman in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Nangka, Marikina City early Tuesday morning. According to the Marikina police, they conducted a follow-up operation after learning that some contraband was left behind from a drug suspect arrested in June.
With the help of an informant, the woman was identified as a possible stockpiler of leftover illegal drugs. She is also considered a high-value individual. During an operation at a rental house, the suspect sold P2,000 worth of marijuana to a poseur buyer.
Col. Geoffrey Fernandez, chief of the Marikina City Police Station, said the suspect was previously incarcerated when he was a minor. He had only been out for about four months before he was caught. It is also possible that he is a member of a gang because he is jobless and high school graduate.
The suspect denied that he was selling or using illegal drugs. “No. I am not selling,” he said. He is now detained at the Marikina police custodial facility and is facing charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
