Motorists can now renew their driver’s license using the eGovPH mobile app, according to an announcement by the Land Transportation Office (LTO). The new feature aims to make the process faster and more convenient, and avoid long lines at LTO offices.
To renew your license, simply download the eGovPH app from the App Store or Google Play, and complete identity verification. After that, you can access the LTO service, upload a photo of the front and back of your license, and take a selfie according to the agency's requirements.
Two important steps must be completed before renewal: the online medical exam and the Driver’s Enhancement Program. Using LTO Telemedicine, you can book a virtual check-up with an accredited doctor. In the enhancement program, the 5-hour online module on road safety and traffic rules must be completed.
Once the requirements are complete, payment can be made using the online payment options in the app. If the transaction is successful, an electronic driver’s license will be generated immediately and can be accessed in the app. You can also have a physical card delivered or pick it up at an LTO district office.
According to LTO chief Vigor Mendoza II, the digital driver’s license has the same validity as the physical card. The digital services aim to make transactions faster, cheaper, and hassle-free for everyone.
