A sack of suspected shabu was found on the beach of Barangay Chanaryan in Basco, Batanes on June 19. According to the report, a fisherman found the sack containing 24 vacuum-sealed packs.
It is marked "DAGUANYING" and has a total weight of 24.5 kilos. Its market value is estimated at P166.6 million.
It was immediately surrendered to the Basco police station and is now in the custody of the PDEA Basco Provincial Office. It will undergo a thorough examination at the PDEA Region 2 laboratory.
Since June, about 1.530 tons of floating shabu have been seized off the coasts of Zambales, Pangasinan, and Cagayan, worth approximately P9.48 billion — the largest drug haul in the country's history.
On Wednesday, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. led the inspection and burning of nearly 3,000 kilos of seized shabu, marijuana, cocaine, and ecstasy from various parts of the Philippines.
