
A e-bike driver was shot in broad daylight at the corner of B. Aranas and Carlock Streets, Barangay San Nicolas Proper, Cebu City, this Sunday morning, June 22. According to residents, they heard three gunshots at around 7 a.m..
The victim was identified as Ronnie Aya-ay Lawas, 33, a resident of Peace Valley, Barangay Lahug but currently residing in Sitio Kastilaan, Barangay Ermita. According to the police report, Lawas was found lifeless on his e-bike. Medics attempted to revive him before taking him to the Cebu City Medical Center, but he was declared dead.
Lawas had multiple bullet wounds on his body. Police are still investigating the identity of the suspect and the motive behind the shooting. No clear witnesses have emerged during the investigation.
An e-bike driver in the area, Louie Gomez, said he did not know the victim. According to him, “He is not really from here. Maybe he just passed by and saw him here and was attacked.”
Police continue to search for the perpetrator and possible witnesses to the incident.
