Russian-American vlogger Vitaly Zdorovetskiy remains in detention despite being posted bail on criminal charges including unjust vexation. This is due to the ongoing hearing of his deportation case at the Bureau of Immigration (BI).
Zdorovetskiy became known after posting vlogs in which he threatened to rob a Filipina, belittled her for wearing a face mask, harassed guards, rided a patrol motorcycle without permission, and stolen an electric fan.
He was initially in the custody of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, but was transferred to BI after he was granted bail by the Regional Trial Court Branch 153 in Taguig.
According to Immigration Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado, even if Zdorovetskiy can post bail in the local cases, he will still have to remain in BI custody while the deportation case is processed. He will also not be deported immediately if he is sentenced here in the Philippines.
The BI holding facility in Camp Bagong Diwa is Zdorovetskiy's current detention facility. He was arrested on April 3 on a mission order declaring him an undesirable alien.
