The City Health Office of San Jose del Monte in Bulacan has recorded two confirmed cases of mpox. According to officials, the patients contracted the Clade II strain—a type of mpox that is not as severe.
Both patients have recovered and are not related to each other. According to health officials, close contacts of the two patients are asymptomatic and have completed isolation as a precaution.
Gov. Daniel Fernando ordered mayors and barangay officials to prepare temporary treatment and monitoring areas. They were also tasked to inspect the cleanliness of establishments and conduct mpox awareness campaigns.
Fernando also reminded hospitals to be prepared for possible mpox cases and told local health offices to immediately report suspected cases.
The provincial government clarified that no lockdowns will be implemented even though there are confirmed cases of mpox in the province.
