A student in Iloilo was traumatized after she was embarrassed and almost missed her graduation ceremony because of her black shoes. According to a Facebook post by the student named “Cybelle,” she was scolded by teachers several times because she allegedly didn't meet the standard for shoes.
He said that the shoes he was wearing were black Parisian close shoes that he bought for P400 on sale. He said that was all he could buy with his own savings. He said he was still excited because it was his first time buying branded shoes with his own money.
On the day of graduation, the faculty and marshals reportedly prevented him from entering the venue because his shoes had straps and were not plain black. He removed the strap, but was still not allowed in. He said he did not have change or extra money to buy new ones.
She said she just cried while looking for someone to approach. In the end, she borrowed shoes from a classmate just to get on stage. But even though she received a diploma, she feels like her entire graduation experience was ruined. The reason? Just the shoes.
