A family in Barangay 109-A, Tacloban City was shocked when they noticed a sawa descending from the ceiling of their house, past 12 noon on Sunday, June 8, 2025. The snake was first spotted near the bathroom, prompting them to immediately seek help from neighbors.
The incident was immediately responded to and it took almost 15 minutes before the python was finally removed from the ceiling. According to those who saw it, it seemed to be looking for a cooler place, so it probably hit the bathroom because of the heat on the ceiling.
Residents also noticed that the python was weakening. It is estimated to be about one meter long. Fortunately, no one was injured and the animal was rescued successfully.
It was stated that the python will be turned over to the DENR for proper care. Authorities once again reminded that it is forbidden to capture or kill wildlife such as pythons because they are among the endangered animals.
Be alert in such situations, but remain calm. This way, both people and animals are safe from any harm.
