The House of Representatives is rushing to pass important bills before the adjournment sine die of the 19th Congress on June 13, according to Speaker Martin Romualdez. He said, “It is time to finish our remaining work. This is the final stretch of the 19th Congress so every day is important.”
Among the targets to be passed is the Anti-Offshore Gaming Operations Act or better known as the Anti-POGO bill (House Bill 10987). There is also the Philippine Civil Registry Act (HB 11359), Declaration of State of Imminent Disaster Act (HB 11430), AICS Act (HB 11395), and a bill extending senior citizen benefits.
Romualdez stressed, “These measures must be acted upon immediately. All of them have a direct impact on the lives of Filipinos—from community security to the rights and benefits of our seniors.”
These laws are intended to strengthen public protection, streamline services, and ensure that systems such as offshore gaming are not abused. It is also a step to provide better support to vulnerable sectors such as senior citizens and the needy.
For the remaining days of the session, Speaker Romualdez assured that they will intensify their work in the House to pass bills that will bring positive change to the country.
