
A woman died while two barangay tanods were injured after a shooting at a birthday party in Barangay 429, Sampaloc, Manila on Thursday night.
According to Punong Barangay Jomar De Vera, the woman was dead on arrival at the hospital. Her husband, who is also a guard, was hit by a bullet in the knee. Another guard was grazed by a bullet in the shoulder.
Based on the CCTV of the barangay, a motorcycle passed through the alley. When it approached the people at the table, the rider suddenly fired a gun. The woman was immediately hit, while the men in the vicinity grabbed the chair and chased the perpetrators.
Some residents said they heard three gunshots in a row. They thought it was just a simple fight but later found out it was a real gunshot. Other residents even tried to chase and hit the perpetrators with dustpans but they quickly fled.
According to De Vera, the victim had no known enemies. He was loud and combative, but he did not know of any serious enemies. It is possible that the perpetrators had a lookout due to the audacity of their crime in a crowded and crowded place.
The suspects were wearing helmets so their faces were not visible. The victim's family refused to speak out of fear. The investigation is ongoing to determine the motive for the shooting.
