George Wendt, the actor best known for playing Norm on the show Cheers, has died at the age of 76, his family said. He was known for always sitting at the bar, always greeted with a loud "Norm!" from his fellow cast members.
George, who was nominated for six consecutive Emmys for his outstanding performance on one of television's most popular sitcoms, died peacefully in his sleep at home, his family said.
Many fellow actors paid tribute to George, including Ted Danson who said, “I am so saddened by the loss of Georgie.” George was known as a kind, caring family man, and a true friend. He will surely be missed by all.
