The two thieves failed to steal a keyless motorcycle of a motor taxi rider on Sampaguita Street, Brgy. 188, Caloocan, on Sunday morning, May 18, 2025. They even threatened the victim with a gun and hit him on the head, but they still couldn't get the motorcycle.
According to Caloocan Police, one of the suspects booked a ride on the app to pick up the rider. Upon arriving at the area, they separated from their companions and approached the rider. One of them pointed a gun while the other positioned himself next to the rider.
The CCTV footage shows that the person pretending to be a passenger tried to start the motorcycle but it did not work because the victim immediately pressed the off button. As a result, they were unable to start the keyless motorcycle.
The rider fled and immediately asked for help from the guards. The suspects only took his helmet. The barangay and police immediately coordinated to check the CCTV and identify the suspects' direction.
The suspects have been identified and are currently being sought by the police. They will face charges of carnapping. The police remind: “Always be double-cautious with bookings especially if there is something suspicious. Fortunately, the rider was calm and alert so they were unable to seize the motorcycle.”
