A 25-year-old college student was injured after dragging and stealing a rider's cellphone on EDSA North Avenue, Quezon City. The incident was captured on a viral video where he was dragged for several minutes in the southbound lane of EDSA before falling off the motorcycle.
The victim, Janine Balanza, met the suspect at a mall on North Avenue on April 20. Janine was selling her cellphone for ₱19,800. She was going to use it for tuition for her last semester of college.
The suspect told her to ride a motorcycle to withdraw money from her cellphone. When she got on, she was suddenly stopped and tried to get off. But something caught on her bag or clothes, so she was dragged when the suspect's motorcycle suddenly sped away.
Janine was injured and stressed after the incident. Authorities are currently investigating the case and are searching for the suspect.
