The UAE is betting big on AI (Artificial Intelligence). The country recently announced that it will use AI to write laws.
They are becoming the first country in the world to use AI in lawmaking. They have approved the Regulatory Intelligence Office for the UAE, a step towards using AI to draft new federal and local laws as well as to revise and streamline existing laws and other processes. According to government officials, the goal of the project is to make the lawmaking process faster, more accurate, and easier using technology.
Since 2017, the UAE has appointed an AI Minister and has now established an office to focus on the regulatory system of AI. According to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, “The new legislative system powered by AI will transform the way we make laws, making the process faster and more accurate.” AI is estimated to have a market value of $15.7 trillion USD by 2030 and is expected to reduce government spending by 50%.
