The Immigration Bureau of the Philippines has arrested a Chinese man on charges of illegal online gambling in China. He has a red notice from Interpol and was intercepted on April 19, 2025, at NAIA Terminal 1 while en route to Cambodia.
He was identified as Wang Anrui, 34 years old. According to Joel Anthony Viado, the Immigration Commissioner, Wang's name was found on the alert list of their system, so he was immediately arrested.
According to the report, Wang has a case in Hefei, China. The investigation revealed that from 2019 to 2021, he set up an illegal online gambling platform for Chinese users. He allegedly used ads to attract many bettors. The record shows that he earned more than ₱60 million (78 million yuan RMB) from this activity.
It was also discovered that Wang has been overstaying in the Philippines since 2022, so he is now detained at Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig while awaiting the deportation process back to China.
According to the Immigration Bureau, they continue to work with Interpol and Chinese authorities to ensure that the Philippines does not become a haven for international criminals.
