Online marketplaces like Shein and Temu will raise prices starting April 25, 2025, due to new tariffs and laws implemented by President Donald Trump. The trade changes will increase companies' operating costs, forcing them to raise product prices.
According to statements by Shein and Temu, their products from toys to smartphones will become more expensive in the coming days. Previously, their sales were not taxed due to the "de minimis exemption" that allowed products worth less than $800 to enter without tax. But due to the new executive order, this exemption will no longer apply starting May 2, 2025.
For example, Shein dresses are priced from ₱336 to ₱5,136 while products at Temu are priced from ₱141 to ₱11,800. Therefore, consumers are encouraged to purchase their products at the current price before the price increase occurs.
