Two Chinese suspects have been arrested in the Philippines for their involvement in the kidnapping and murder of Chinese businessman Guo Congyuan and his driver. According to reports, Guo's family paid a ransom of ₱210 million (almost 27 million yuan) in three installments. However, despite the payment, Guo was still killed.
The money was immediately transferred to a local casino in the Philippines to launder. In an operation last night, the Solaire Casino was raided and "Le Le" and "A Qiu," who have long been known in the casino world as money launderers were arrested.
The source said, they frequently exchange large amounts of "U coins" at the casino, which is why authorities noticed. There is clear evidence of the money transfer: from the ransom, into an account, then straight to the casino's VIP room to make the money look legitimate.
According to the Chinese Embassy, authorities in China and the Philippines have been focusing on this case for a long time. China will also send a team in June to help investigate other major cases. But the most eye-opener here is: The police did not solve this immediately but because the Chinese business community contributed ₱100 million to the Philippines.
Guo Congyuan is known as one of the most respected Chinese businessmen in the country. So this cannot be missed. Many believe that this is not the real mastermind behind the crime. Perhaps the connection is even bigger—politics, business, or casino syndicate. In the coming days, a more serious revelation will come out.
