A heated street fight in Antipolo City on Sunday afternoon resulted in a shooting, injuring three people. The suspect was immediately caught after a hot pursuit operation by the police.
According to Antipolo Police, the incident happened around 5 p.m. at Barangay San Jose, Marcos Highway.
Victims:
Peter (52 years old, businessman) – Bullet hit in the head
Patrick (22-year-old, student) – Struck in the right arm
Davis (29 years old) – Shot in the right chest while breaking up a fight
All the injured were immediately rushed to the Cabading Hospital for treatment.
The suspect, "Kenneth" (28-year-old, businessman), attempted to flee using his black Toyota Fortuner but was intercepted at a checkpoint in Masinag, Barangay Mayamot, Antipolo City.
According to Police Lt. Col. Ryan Lopez Manongdo, the police are still looking for additional witnesses for a more detailed investigation.
Meanwhile, Rizal Provincial Police Director Police Col. Felipe Maraggun said the suspect did not have permission to carry a gun due to the nationwide election gun ban.
The root cause of the street fight is still being investigated. According to police, it is possible that there was a scuffle or scuffle over the use of the street, which led to the shooting.
