A delivery rider was dead on the spot while another injured after being hit by a truck that was counterflowing in Barangay San Andres, Cainta, this Saturday night, February 7, past 8 p.m.
According to witnesses, the truck suddenly swerved out of the lane to overtake, causing it to collide with two motorcycle riders. One of the riders was drag by the vehicle, while the other was able to jump off to avoid more serious injuries.
The barangay's CCTV footage shows that the truck did not pass by before it swerved into the other lane, directly hitting the riders. Barangay Public Safety Officers (BPSO) immediately responded to assist the injured.
One of the eyewitnesses, Egmedio Patenio, said they heard the loud crash because their outpost was nearby. According to him, a woman was seen under the truck, crying and lying on her side with her leg sticking out of the vehicle. She was immediately rushed to the hospital.
Depensa ng driver ng truck, may karga ang sasakyan kaya nagkaroon ng aksidente, ngunit tumanggi itong magbigay ng karagdagang detalye at sinabi na ipapaliwanag na lamang sa kanilang abogado. Patuloy ang imbestigasyon ng mga awtoridad upang matukoy ang buong pangyayari at pananagutan sa trahedya.
