PH ranks 2nd in Asia in Starlink users according to global data 2026

The Philippines is officially recognized as Starlink's second-largest market in Asia and sixth globally, based on the latest data. An estimated 4.2% of Starlink's total 9.2 million global subscribers are from the country, a testament to the rapid acceptance of satellite internet as an alternative connection.

On a performance level, Starlink's average speed in the Philippines of 55.47Mbps is slightly higher than the average mobile internet in the country, but still lower than the fixed broadband average of 102.79Mbps. However, speed is not the only measure of service value, especially for areas with limited traditional infrastructure.

Starlink is unique because it uses Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites, which are closer to Earth than other satellite providers' geostationary satellites. This results in lower latency and more stable connections, particularly important for remote and island communities.

Starlink continues to expand its presence in the country through strategic partnerships. One of these is direct-to-cell technology, which allows standard LTE smartphones to connect directly to the satellite without the need for a cell tower or additional hardware.

Overall, Starlink's growth in the Philippines demonstrates strong demand for reliable internet access, especially in areas that were previously hard to reach. As innovation and service expansion continue, satellite connectivity is expected to become an even more important part of the country's digital future.
