The fire that reached third alarm broke out in Barangay Addition Hills, Mandaluyong City on Saturday night, December 27, where approximately 100 residences were consumed by the flames.
According to residents, the incident occurred around 6:00 p.m. while most were having dinner. Rosalie Dacumos was just praying after suddenly losing power and hearing the arrival of firefighters.
Meanwhile, Cristita Dondoyano said she was grateful that her family was able to get out safely. For her, the life of the family was more important than the belongings lost in the fire.
Firefighters were challenged in responding due to the narrow alleys and roads in the area. According to FSUPT. JL Aaron Caro, City Fire Marshal of the Mandaluyong BFP, most of the residents had to be evacuated while the fire was still being extinguished.
Up to 17 BFP fire trucks and 42 volunteer fire trucks responded before the fire was declared fire out at around 9:04 p.m.. An estimated 100 families or 600 individuals were affected, with damage estimated at ₱375,000, and three injuries reported—two female residents and one male fire volunteer. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
