Some parts of EDSA will be temporarily closed from December 28, 2025 to January 5, 2026 due to rehabilitation works by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) that began on Christmas Eve. Motorists are advised to prepare and use alternative routes due to expected heavy traffic.
For southbound, affected areas include areas near P. Celle Street, Park Avenue, Soleum Gas Station, FB Harrison, Taft Avenue, Victory Line Pasay Terminal, Ayala underpass, and selected parts in San Lorenzo Village. Lanes affected include the 3rd lane, outer lane, and inner lane, depending on location.
In northbound, concrete reblocking will be performed in areas near Taft Avenue Extension, Hotel Sogo Pasay, Roxas Boulevard, FB Harrison, E. Rodriguez Street, Shell EDSA McKinley, Ayala underpass, Buendia Avenue Extension, Kalayaan Avenue, and Orense Street. There are specific dates for which lanes will be affected from inner lane to outer lane.
Along with the reblocking, the DPWH will also install new asphalt overlay with separate schedules for northbound and southbound. Most of the work will not include the bus lane, and the work will be carried out 24/7 from 11:00 PM on Dec. 24 until 4:00 AM of Jan. 5, 2026.
According to Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon, the P6-billion EDSA rehabilitation project will take approximately eight months. It aims to replace broken pavement, improve drainage, and make EDSA more pedestrian-friendly for commuters.
