The Philippine National Police (PNP) has conducted an investigation into the death of Ma. Catalina Cabral, former DPWH Undersecretary. The police aim to find out what really happened before she died on Kennon Road, Benguet.
According to PNP Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., the autopsy has revealed Cabral's identity and cause of death. The next step will be a thorough investigation into the circumstances leading up to the incident.
Also being investigated is Cabral's driver, who was with him before the alleged fall off the cliff. The family allowed an autopsy on Saturday and his remains have been brought to Manila.
The PNP is treating the case as a national matter. It is coordinating with various agencies to preserve evidence, especially in relation to billion-peso flood control projects that may have kickbacks and poor construction.
Meanwhile, the chief of police of Tuba, Benguet was fired for shortcomings. The NBI called on those who passed by Kennon Road on December 18 to share dashcam footage to help with the investigation.
