The cast of Reply 1988 has reunited for the 10th anniversary special of the hit K-drama. tvN has released the official poster while Channel Fullmoon has shared a teaser for the three-episode special on YouTube.
The five lead stars — Lee Hye-ri, Park Bo-gum, Go Kyung-pyo, Ryu Jun-yeol, and Lee Dong-hwi — will be joined by actors who played their families such as Sung Dong-il, Ra Mi-ran, Kim Sung-kyun, and others. The special will follow their two-day, one-night trip in celebration of the show's anniversary.
Ryu Jun-yeol was unable to join the trip due to schedule conflicts, but he shot separate scenes to still participate in the special, according to a report by the Korea Times.
The first episode of Reply 1988 Anniversary Special is set to air on December 19. The series, set in 1980s Korea, is about five friends who grow up in the same community. It is the third installment in the franchise that includes Reply 1997 and Reply 1994.
Reply 1988 recorded a 19.6% finale rating, the highest for cable TV at the time. It also continued to gain popularity worldwide thanks to streaming platforms like Netflix, and was even recognized by the BBC as one of the sparks of the K-drama boom overseas.
