The shooting at a birthday party in California left 4 dead, including 3 children, and 11 injured. According to authorities, this was a targeted attack possibly involving multiple gunmen.
The incident occurred inside a banquet hall in Stockton, where 100 to 150 people were celebrating. According to San Joaquin County Sheriff Patrick Withrow, the victims were aged 8, 9, 14, and 21. One of the injured is in critical condition.
The sheriff said they believe there were multiple shooters inside the venue. He urged the public to be vigilant as the investigation continues, and called for information or video to come forward if they have it. So far, no suspects have been arrested.
Withrow called the perpetrators "animals" for their ruthless attacks on children. Meanwhile, Stockton Mayor Christina Fugazi offered a $25,000 reward for anyone who can provide information leading to the arrest of the perpetrators.
Several guns were also discovered on the roof of the building, but it is not yet clear if they are connected to the crime. According to the Gun Violence Archive, there have been 504 mass shootings in the United States this year, including this incident.
