The Department of Justice (DOJ) has offered a P1 million reward for information leading to the arrest of Cassandra Li Ong, alleged representative of the shuttered Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator hub Lucky South 99 in Porac, Pampanga.
The Pasig City Regional Trial Court Branch 157 issued an order to cancel the passports of Ong and his associates, Atty. Harry Roque, Ronelyn Baterna, Dennis Cunanan, and Mercides Macabasa. According to the DOJ, there is no record in the Bureau of Immigration that Ong has left the country, hence the reward was introduced as a way to obtain information from the public.
In August 2024, Ong was arrested along with Bamban Mayor Alice Guo and Sheila Guo in Indonesia for allegedly being “suspicious foreigners” but was returned to the Philippines to face charges of illegal exit from the country. However, Ong was released between the 19th and 20th Congresses. He was last recorded in Japan this year, according to the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC).
Meanwhile, Harry Roque is currently in the Netherlands seeking asylum for his political beliefs. According to the DOJ, it is up to the country to grant his asylum application. Roque said he will continue to fight for truth and good governance in the Philippines.
