The three men killed in a PDEG operation in Cubao, Quezon City were not carrying shabu. According to the PNP Drug Enforcement Group, the seized “bricks” were negative for drugs based on laboratory tests.
According to Brig. Gen. Elmer Ragay, the contents of the packages were noodles and small stones, which appeared to be made to defraud the buyer. He added that the police have video of what happened during the operation and that it is part of a drug bust they are conducting.
The operation took place on November 18 near a gasoline station in Barangay Socorro. While the operatives were chasing “Dan” and his three companions, the suspects allegedly fired, prompting the police to retaliate. The three were killed on the spot and the gun they allegedly used was recovered.
Ragay further said that the negative drug test does not weaken the case because the group has been monitored since August. There is also an intelligence packet as the basis for the operation.
The Internal Affairs Service has launched a motu proprio investigation due to the use of a firearm in the incident. follow-up operations are ongoing to find the fourth suspect who escaped.
