The city government of Manila has decided not to place Christmas lanterns on major roads and public areas this holiday season, according to Mayor Isko Moreno.
Moreno announced during the flag-raising ceremony that the local government has chose to eliminate the traditional parol for the holiday season. According to him, it will require approximately P14 million if the citywide decoration continues.
For this reason, the city will focus on lighting a large Christmas tree placed at Manila City Hall near the Kartilya ng Katipunan Shrine.
Although there will be no street lights, Moreno assured that the Christmas celebration in the city will remain happy and colorful.
