illegal online gambling through a new partnership with Digital Pinoys, a civil society group.
Under their memorandum of agreement, both groups will join forces to have a clearer direction and faster action against the spread of online gambling. This follows several steps taken by the CICC in recent months, including issuing an ultimatum to social media influencers who promote online gambling.
Recently, the CICC provided the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group with a list of influencers involved in the promotion of online gambling for case build-up and possible filing of charges.
According to Renato Paraiso, executive director of CICC, these steps demonstrate the ongoing national push to protect citizens. With the help of Digital Pinoys, shared intelligence will be stronger, public engagement will be broader, and cyber-enabled crimes will be responded to more quickly.
Paraiso also said that the partnership is not only against illegal online gambling, but also to better protect Filipinos against other cyber threats that could potentially affect their money, privacy, and online safety.
