Apple is currently working on a new low-cost Mac that is estimated to cost around ₱34,000, according to reports. It aims to compete with cheap laptops like Chromebooks and budget PCs.
TCalled the J700, this new device is aimed at students, business, and casual users who only use their laptop for internet browsing, document creation, or simple photo/video editing. It is slightly smaller than the 13.6-inch MacBook Air.
The price is expected to be affordable because it will use a LCD display instead of a high-end panel and iPhone processor instead of a standard Mac chip. According to reports, the iPhone chip is even faster than the M1 processor and has a longer battery life.
The new Mac is currently in testing and early production stages with suppliers overseas. It is likely to launch in the first half of 2026.
There has been no official comment from Apple yet, but many are already excited at the possibility of a cheap Mac with macOS features and a portable design.
