Two additional PNPA cadets have filed a complaint against a tactical officer for sexual abuse and harassment. The 35-year-old police officer was previously detained after a 23-year-old cadet complained.
According to PNPA Director Brig. Gen. Andre Dizon, the suspect brings cadets with academic issues to the quarters, and that's where he gains their trust before committing the abuse.
In their complaint to the National Police Commission, the cadets said they were ordered to undress under the pretext of a “body check” and “board test,” during which the officer allegedly committed the abuse. Three acts of lasciviousness cases have been filed against the suspect, while a rape case is also being prepared, which carries a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison.
Dizon said the incident was isolated and that such behavior does not reflect the academy's culture. Preventive measures have been implemented to protect the cadets.
Dizon also stated that the PNPA is safe because there are tactical officers and professors who are watching over the welfare of the students.
