
A construction worker died while three others were injured after falling steel bars from a building under construction in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig on Monday morning. The incident occurred past 10 a.m. while the victims were installing steel bars in the building's basement 2.
A 22-story building with six basements on 34th Street is being built for a large clothing company. According to police, an elevator slab collapsed and buried workers. The four victims were immediately taken to St. Luke’s Medical Center. One died while three are in stable condition.
Operations at the site were temporarily halted while the cause of the accident was investigated. The local government also investigated whether there were any shortcomings among safety officers and whether proper safety procedures were followed.
Monolith Construction and Development Corporation announced that it will cover all hospital and funeral expenses of its employees. The company also assured that they are following safety measures and that they are continuing to investigate how the steel collapse occurred.
