A buy-bust operation in Barangay Bolbok, Batangas City on Monday night ended in a shootout that resulted in the injury of three police officers.
A police major and two staff sergeants were wounded after being shot by suspects around 10 p.m. The operation targeted a man known by the alias “Bonsai”, who was allegedly involved in the sale and possession of unregistered firearms.
The injured police officers were immediately taken to the Saint Camillus de Lillis Hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, a dragnet operation was launched and a forensic unit was deployed to investigate the area.
Pursuit and clearing operations continued until early Tuesday morning, but were temporarily suspended for re-planning.
Authorities have not yet released any updates on the condition of the wounded police officers and the ongoing manhunt against the suspects.
