The Philippine Army has recommended the removal of Cavite 4th District Representative Francisco “Kiko” Barzaga from its reserve force roster. This is after he encouraged soldiers and reservists on social media to join the protest on September 21.
According to Army spokesperson Col. Louie Dema-ala, an internal investigation found that Barzaga was guilty of serious misconduct for his statement. He added that the move is limited to Barzaga's reservist status and will not affect his rights as a civilian or as an elected official.
Batay sa ulat, nilabag ni Barzaga ang General Headquarters (GHQ) Standard Operating Procedure No. 07 na may kinalaman sa pag-enlist, extension, at delisting ng mga miyembro ng AFP Reserve Force.
The Army stressed that its commitment to professionalism and political neutrality remains intact. They reminded all soldiers and reservists to follow the AFP Code of Ethics so as not to undermine trust in the Armed Forces.
As of now, the recommendation has been submitted to the proper agencies for final action.
