The Department of Justice (DOJ) criticized Sarah Discaya's actions after she made a finger heart gesture to reporters on September 27. The DOJ called it "insincere" and a sign of "complacency."
When the media asked him how he was, Discaya didn't answer and just crossed his fingers before entering the DOJ. A few hours later, when asked again how his appearance went, he jokingly said: “Enjoy my memes.”
According to DOJ spokesperson Mico Clavano, “Ms. Discaya’s heart sign and remarks are included in our analysis. This is an indication of a lack of sincerity. We encourage all involved to act accordingly.”
Sarah and her husband Curlee Discaya appeared before the DOJ in connection with the investigation into alleged anomalies in flood control projects worth ₱100 billion. Their company is among 15 contractors that have secured nearly 20% of the projects in the past three years.
The couple's name has become even more prominent after their controversial interview, which was once again mentioned by Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto. From there, the issue of flood control projects, a case at the Bureau of Customs, the cancellation of the Discaya company's license, and hearings in Congress emerged.
