The song “Kapangyarihan” by Ben&Ben and SB19 became the anthem of the anti-corruption protests on September 21, 2025. These included the “Baha sa Luneta” at Rizal Park and the “Trillion Peso March” at the EDSA People Power Monument, which coincided with the 53rd anniversary of Batas Martial.
Released in 2021, the song advocates for accountability, denounces abuse of power, and is against lies. It was inspired by the December 2020 incident in Tarlac, where a former police officer shot and killed his neighbor.
Before the protest began, Josh and Pablo of SB19 shared a video in which they sang a part of the song with a bold message: “You rob us but you still want to hold back and be kind?” Meanwhile, Ben&Ben played the song themselves on EDSA and said, “The power is in the youth! Let's shout together, ‘You should be serving!’”
Other P-pop artists also showed support. BINI, G22, and KAIA issued statements, while Maki, a performer at a major event, made his stance clear: “Before I become a singer, I am Filipino first. Let's stop corruption! Someone must be held accountable. Someone must go to jail.”
The statements and music of these artists served as a cry of the youth against injustice. A clear reminder that true power lies with the people, and that everyone has an obligation to guard the future of the Philippines.
