
Super Typhoon Nando (Ragasa) is approaching the Babuyan Islands this Monday, September 22, 2025. According to PAGASA, it is expected to bring life-threatening winds, heavy rain, and storm surge.
As of 10 a.m., the eye of the typhoon was 110 kilometers east of Calayan, Cagayan. It was moving westward at 20 kph, with 215 kph maximum sustained winds and 265 kph gustiness.
Signal No. 5 is raised in Babuyan Islands, with severe threat to life and property. Signal No. 4 is raised in Southern Batanes, northern Cagayan, and northern Ilocos Norte. Signal Nos. 3, 2, and 1 are also raised in other parts of Luzon such as Isabela, Apayao, Abra, Kalinga, Benguet, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Nueva Ecija, Aurora, and Bulacan.
PAGASA warned of storm surges of more than 3 meters over the coastal areas of Batanes, Cagayan, Ilocos Norte, and Ilocos Sur. Also expect heavy rains and winds that will reach Metro Manila, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, Bicol, MIMAROPA, Visayas, and Mindanao. The sea is very rough with waves up to 14 meters, so ships are advised not to venture out.
Nando is expected to cross or make landfall near the Babuyan Islands this afternoon to afternoon, and exit the country by Tuesday morning, September 23. Residents in high-risk areas are strongly advised to evacuate immediately and follow the advice of local officials.
