The Alas Pilipinas men’s volleyball team is looking even more promising after their impressive performance in the FIVB Men’s World Championship. Despite being ranked 81st, they surprised everyone by finishing 19th out of 32 teams.
According to PNVF president Tats Suzara, if this kind of play continues in the upcoming SEA Games in Thailand, there is a good chance of getting the coveted gold. Despite losing in a close match against Iran, the team proved that they can compete with strong countries.
They secured a win over Egypt, a former African champion. In the end, they were the second highest ranked team from Asia — a big warning to their opponents in the SEA Games.
For Bryan Bagunas and Mack Espejo, the key is hard work, discipline, and humility. According to Bagunas, you just need to continue improving and stay consistent. Espejo added that men's volleyball has come a long way because of the hard work of the past year.
If their dedication continues, there is a good chance that Alas Pilipinas will be able to take home their first gold medal in the SEA Games — a win that will surely be celebrated by the entire country.
