The SSS pension reform program was launched yesterday that will provide additional benefits to 3.8 million pensioners over the next three years without additional contributions.
Under the new program, 10% increase will be received by retirement and disability pensioners, while there will be 5% increase for survivorship pensioners and higher assistance for dependents. The adjustment will be given every September from 2025 to 2027.
According to the SSS, this reform is a historic step to make the social security system more inclusive and responsive, which aims to protect the dignity and welfare of retirees and their families.
In total, more than ₱93 billion will be released for beneficiaries over three years. According to Marcos, this will be a great help for medicine, food, and other needs of pensioners.
The President also called on the SSS and GSIS to ensure fast and efficient service, invest wisely, and make the system more accessible through digital platforms and kiosks. He also encouraged pensioners to plan for their future and engage with the SSS to better utilize their benefits.
