Police arrested a militiaman and a barangay kagawad after seizing P2.7 million worth of shabu in an entrapment operation in Barangay Ampao, Bacolod-Kalawi, Lanao del Sur last Friday, September 6.
The suspect was identified as Khalid Dimnatang Gubat, a member of CAFGU, who was injured after fighting with police. Also arrested was Anoar Dedaagon Sumbi, a member of Barangay Sugud. Both are now detained at the Police Regional Office-BAR.
According to Brig. Gen. Jaysen De Guzman, the operation was jointly conducted by the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit, Lanao del Sur Police, and Bacolod-Kalawi Police, with the support of local officials and Maranao leaders.
Investigation revealed that the suspects sold 406.9 grams of shabu (equivalent to P2.7 million) to police officers who posed as buyers. Upon being tracked down, Gubat immediately opened fire using a 9mm pistol, causing him to be wounded before being taken to the hospital.
The two suspects will face charges under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, using the confiscated shabu as evidence.
