The protesters in Pasig City gathered outside St. Gerrard Construction, the company of the couple Sarah and Curlee Discaya. They threw mud at the gate and wrote “thief”, “corrupt”, and “imprison” on the wall as a symbol of anger over alleged anomalies in flood control projects.
According to the groups, the Discaya couple were dubbed the “Flood Control King and Queen” because of the nearly ₱31 billion project. Protesters said that while the people are drowning in floods and mud, Discaya is drowning in money from the project.
The Pasig Police explained that the group did not have a permit and that there was a possible case of malicious mischief or property damage. However, they said they showed maximum tolerance and immediately reminded the protesters who later complied.
The protesters added that what they called thieves did was more destructive than their protest actions. They promised that this would not be the last time they would go to the companies and properties of those involved in corruption to hold them accountable.
Recently, Sarah Discaya admitted to owning 28 luxury cars and 9 construction firms. She denied that her wealth came from taxpayers' money and denied having ghost projects, even though she has connections with some officials of the DPWH.
