The Golf R will release a 25th Anniversary Edition in 2027, as the last model to use a pure-petrol engine. Its biggest highlight is the use of the 2.5-liter, 5-cylinder engine from the Audi RS3, which is capable of producing more than 400 horsepower.
Compared to the current Golf R with 328 horsepower from a 2.0-liter turbo engine, the new version is more powerful and faster. The 400hp is equivalent to approximately ₱23.6 million in power, while its 369 lb-ft of torque will accelerate the car to 62mph (100km/h). Apart from that, the 5-cylinder engine is known for its unique sound that car enthusiasts will surely enjoy.
To handle the extra power, the Golf R 25th Anniversary Edition will feature bigger brakes, new suspension, and chassis tuning. This aims to maintain the Golf R's reputation as one of the most balanced and high-performance hatchbacks.
For those who have long dreamed of a Golf R with more power and character, this is the perfect farewell edition before the model finally transitions to an electric future.
