A car in Sitio Payong, Barangay Dalig, Antipolo was hit by a collapsed wall during heavy rains on Sunday, August 24, 2025. The 32-year-old passenger was injured, while his wife and 1-year-old child were safe.
According to driver Exequiel Santillan, they suddenly heard a loud roar before the wall collapsed. His wife was hit in the head and hand, but their son was safe after being hugged by the mother. Santillan also said that his wife's CT scan was normal.
Resident Patricia Wong witnessed the accident. Due to thick fog and knee-deep flood, they had difficulty seeing the road. She said the driver immediately moved her son and husband to the side despite the strong water current.
Barangay Dalig captain Loni Leyva explained that the area is in a low-lying area so all the water from the high part went straight down and pushed against the wall. The collapsed part is 20 meters long and 10 feet high.
According to the barangay, the wall is 20 years old and is owned by a private subdivision. It is currently under repair and will be checked by the City Engineering Office to ensure the safety of the area.
