The two popular e-wallet apps have pledged to comply with the order of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) to remove icons and links from their apps that lead to online gambling platforms.
According to a statement by GCash on August 14, they will immediately implement the change upon receiving the official order from the BSP.
GCash also mentioned that they share the BSP's goal of ensuring that Filipinos use financial services responsibly.
Meanwhile, Maya assured that they will also fully cooperate in compliance for a more safe and proper use of their app.
This step is part of the BSP's efforts to protect the public against the potential dangers of online gambling.
